Last Thursday, April 22, 2010, an impossible dream came true for me...
On the occasion of the 70th birthday of my mother, Anna Maria Gamero, we had a party with the family and family friends. Obviously, La Principal de Bisbal had to be there.
At one point in the night, the maestro Josep Cassú (Creu de Sant Jordi Award 2008) invited the singers of the Grupo Xamfaina and yours truly (as second clarinet) to come up on the stage to perform the song "A Day for Anna Maria" with music composed by himself and lyrics by his wife, and excellent poetess, Mrs. Carme Jordi.
It was an unforgettable moment... for a student of music to be able to play a piece with the Official Cobla-Orchestra of the Government of Catalonia is an honor that cannot be described in words.
I can truly tell you that for the rest of my life I will never forget the emotion that filled me for those moments... a feeling of sincere gratitude to the maestros Josep and Francesc Cassú for offering me "the alternative" and to my good friend and teacher Pere Rabasseda (piccolo and 1st clarinet of La Principal de Bisbal) for helping me to make this dream come true!!!
In the photo... do you know who that is on the upper left playing the clarinet?
